σταυρός, a cross (crux) strictly the tranversebeam (patibulum), which was placed at the top of the vertical part, thus forming a capital T. It was this transverse beam that was carried by the criminal: the crucifixion of Jesus.(A POCKET LEXICON TO THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT by Alexander Souter, M.A., Oxford, The Clarendon Press, 1920)

σταυρός = a cross, krst

stauros znaci stub

i nikako se nemoze odnositi na krst

http://sh.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mučenički_stub

The Encyclopædia Britannica describes the normal manner of Roman crucifixion:

Usually, the condemned man, after being whipped, or "scourged", dragged the crossbeam of his cross to the place of punishment, where the upright shaft was already fixed in the ground. Stripped of his clothing either then or earlier at his scourging, he was bound fast with outstretched arms to the crossbeam or nailed firmly to it through the wrists. The crossbeam was then raised high against the upright shaft and made fast to it about 9 to 12 feet (approximately 3 metres) from the ground. Next, the feet were tightly bound or nailed to the upright shaft. A ledge inserted about halfway up the upright shaft gave some support to the body; evidence for a similar ledge for the feet is rare and late. Over the criminal’s head was placed a notice stating his name and his crime.

Reci menjaju znacenje u svim jezicima.

Demagogue - Originally meant "a popular leader". It is from the Greek demagogos (leader of the people), from demos (people) + agogos (leader). Now the word has strong connotations of a politician who panders to emotions and prejudice.

Democrat - At the time of the American Revolution, the term "democrat" had all the negative connotations of the modern usage of the word "demagogue". A century later, the term had shifted in meaning enough that it was viewed favorably as the name of an American national political party.

Guy - Guido (Guy) Fawkes was the alleged leader of a plot to blow up the English Houses of Parliament on 5 November 1605. The burning on 5 November of a grotesque effigy of Fawkes, known as a "guy," led to the use of the word "guy" as a term for any "person of grotesque appearance" and then to a general reference for a man, as in "some guy called for you." In the 20th century, under the influence of American popular culture, "guy" has been gradually replacing "fellow," "bloke," "chap" and other such words throughout the English-speaking world, and, in the plural, can refer to a mixture of genders (e.g., "Come on, you guys!" could be directed to a group of men and women).
