One of the most interesting heathen sanctuaries is the sanctuary of Perun near Novgorod of great in the natural boundary of Peryn' in Il'men' lake. The heathen temple elevated on “Tomskaya Pisanitsa”, is the reconstruction of this sanctuary, reduced two times. Area is paved by the stones for facilitating the survey. For this purpose the ditch is substituted with the stones lined on the edge of lobes. On the exposition in the center of the heathen temple is located the copy of Zbruchs idol.

Zbruchskiy idol is the sculpture of X century.
Zbruchskiy idol - tetrahedral column with three tiers of the patterns: in the lower represented underground deity, on the average - earth and people, in the upper - sky and gods (attributes of main god - horse and sword). Head of Zbruch idol has 4 faces: Makosh, Lada, Perun and, it is supposedly, Dazhd'bog, covered with the Russian princely cap (spherical with the fur edge).


On the heathen temple Slavs kindled ritual fire. These bonfires separated from the "living fire" - that obtained by friction. The construction for the obtaining of fire is represented on the exposition. Around the heathen temple are located the mock-ups of the basic Slav idols: Rod - the ancestor of the universe, Rozhanitsy - the celestial mistresses of peace, Veles - "skotiy god", Ruyevit - the god of war the judge of souls in the world of the dead , Svarog - the father of the god of the sun, Svyatovid - fertility, Chur - the guardian of boundaries, Yarilo - the deity of the sun and fertility.



In the circle the heathen temple is enclosed by the wooden paling, on which hang the skulls of sacrificial animals. Circle and oval - magic figures for the Slavs. On the exposition "Slavonic mythology forest" is conducted the adapted to stage excursion "dedication in the soldiers of Perun".
