Michael Jackson settles $48M lawsuit as trial was set to begin in Manhattan

NEW YORK: Lawyers for Michael Jackson have settled a lawsuit brought by a finance company that claimed the pop star cheated it out of $48 million (€35.8 million).

The lawsuit by Prescient Acquisition, of Hackensack, New Jersey, was settled Monday just as jury selection was to begin in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. Terms of the settlement were not released.

Steven Altman, a lawyer for Prescient owner Darien Dash, said the businessman was owed the money for helping Jackson refinance a $272 million (€202.9 million) bank loan and secure $573 million (€427.5 million) in financing to buy Sony's half of the Beatles' song catalog that Sony co-owned with Jackson.

"We're very pleased with the settlement, although the terms of it we've agreed to keep confidential at Mr. Jackson's request," Altman said.

Jackson, 48, had said he never heard of Dash.




"The most important thing is that Michael Jackson's publishing catalog remains safe and sound," said Jackson's lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, whose clients have included Prince and Stevie Wonder.

The settlement, McMillan added, "presents a win-win for everybody."

The lawsuit was one of a number of recent suits involving Jackson and former business associates.

Last year, a jury in California awarded a former Jackson adviser $900,000 (€671,441 for work he did on videos intended to rehabilitate the pop star's image. The jury awarded Jackson $200,000 (€149,209) in a cross-complaint.

In a deposition taken for the New York case in Paris last summer, Jackson said that the entertainment industry was "full of sharks, charlatans and impostors."

The entertainment world, he said, is "full of thieves and crooks. That's not new. Everybody knows that."

Kako mi je bilo danas na koncertu svirao sam sa glavom slepljenom za desno rame , oni ljudi tamo se kidali...dobro i meni je bilo smesno...
Skinuo sam sinoc Dirty Diana live Kansas , Scream , obozavam taj spot , mnogo su super oboje , They dont care about us u Brazilu , najjace kad one zene skoce na njega i on padne , hi,hi , super je spot , i ozloglaseno Childhood , obozavam tu pesmu...kako je ne volite , jaooooooooo , najlepsu melodiju ima , toliko je delikatna i lepa , npr. It's been my fate to compensate ...samo taj deo mi je predivan , da ne pricam ostalo ...meni se svidja ...
Ali uglavnom sam se navukao na Scream , spot je tako dobar da sam se zbog njega usinuo...boliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :cry: 8) :-o sad stavljam i ovog smajlija da se zna da volim da pevam , tako mi nekako izgleda... 8) :o

Meni je Scream odlican spot,Janet i Michael su fantasticno !!! TDCAU mi je super spot,skini i zatvorsku verziju ako hoces,mada je u Brazilu mnogo bolje !!! :)

Imam u zatvoru , meni su i jedna i druga verzija iste , to mi je prvi spot , ako ne racunam Black or White , a mislim da se secam i Scream-a kad sam mali bio , oko pet godina...
A Remember the time je ocaravajuc spot , samo mi je mnogo zao sto ih bacili lavovima , koji sam debil... 8) :-o
 
Evo ja cu malo da spamujem...
Danas sam odrzao oprostajni koncert u Muzickoj sa drugaricom , pa da se pohvalim , dobro ona ostaje jos jednu godinu...Lepo smo svirali , i bas je bilo dirljivo ...
