Andriy said: “I am being made a scapegoat for things that have nothing to do with me.I have been attacked from all sides but I intend to carry on. I will grit my teeth. I am not a quitter. I just want to be kept out of the politics.”
There has been reports that Andriy's transfer to Chelsea has caused a rift between Roman Abramovich and José Mourinho.
“Those rumours are all lies,” Andriy said. “A lot of things have been said which aren’t true. They have caused a lot of hurt to myself and my family. I am a footballer, not a politician. My job is to play, that’s all. It is what I’ve been doing since I was nine years old. People are crossing the limits in what they are saying about me. It is fiction.”
Asked about José Mourinho, Andriy said "I have the greatest respect for him. He has won two titles at Chelsea and unheralded success previously at FC Porto, whom he led to the 2004 Champions League. He has proven he's a great coach and he is a winner. I respect Mourinho's decisions."
"The situation is I came as a new player, the fee was high and the expectation was high and I've been attacked from all sides. I am disappointed in some of my performances so far. It's a period where I have not been doing very well. I'm working on it and I want to give 100 per cent. Anywhere you go you need time to understand things and you need luck and I haven't had that in recent times. I want to show people the real me - I'm really moved by the support I get from the fans. When I play I can see that the fans in the stadium are really behind me and give me a lot of support."
"I wish people would leave me alone. I can be judged for what I'm doing on the pitch but I've got an excellent relationship with my team-mates. We are friends with the lampards. We have been out with them and Frank's a lovely guy. But I have a great relationship with all my team-mates. They are great people. I just want peace and peace of mind and to have fun with the guys and concentrate on my football without thinking about all the other stuff that is being reported."
