Puerto Rico Running Out of Economic Options
A Bailout the Next Step?

The numbers are simply dreadful and the financial world is pulling the cord. A slew of reports from industry publications paint the picture of Puerto Rico’s economic disaster. (See here and here.) Seventy billion dollars in debt, plus 33 billion in underfunded pensions and a per capita debt that is ten times the average of the rest of the United States.
To make matters worse, the island’s official unemployment rate remains above 14 percent. About one third of Puerto Rico’s one million employed individuals work for the government. The remaining 650,000 work in the private sector, a number that is equal to just half of the total number of people living on food stamps.
A steady stream of residents are leaving the island for better shores, taking with them capital and skilled labor. So bad is the situation that unions are now asking the government to abandon a natural gas power plant program because it costs too much. This despite the fact that the islands main electrical supply comes from oil powered generators that have kept the cost of electricity high.
The message is clear, don’t spend money on new energy projects, fund the union’s pensions instead.
The Commonwealth had already instituted new tax proposals and cut thousands of government jobs in an attempt to balance the budget and bring the fiscal house in order. Those actions, taken by former Governor Luis Fortuño, led to island-wide strikes, civil unrest, and eventually his being tossed from office.
So how does Puerto Rico keep its bonds from dropping into junk bond territory? Right now, they are literally one step above that grade, with a falling population and a third of the workforce in the public sector?
Either Puerto Rico bites the bullet or it goes to Washington for a bailout. It’s not that easy, however. Washington has been disinclined to bail out Detroit and other cities, and with good reason. Once it helps one, it will be compelled to help all, and there is simply no way that can be done without abandoning what little fiscal responsibility is left in the US Capitol.
The United States has its own problems in the way of US$17 trillion debt and more than US$125 trillion in unfunded liabilities.
There is another part of the equation however: election politics. Can Congress reject a major bailout request from Puerto Rico, a Hispanic dominated territory in the run up to 2014 and 2016? Even fiscal conservatives may find their opinions swayed by video of widespread unrest that could occur should Puerto Rico bonds collapse, taking other bond funds and the government of Puerto Rico with them?
Either way, politicians have a history of taking the easy road and the easy road for Puerto Rico politicians is to first seek a bailout. Then, if they fail, they’ll be able to blame any future cuts and austerity on Congress’s refusal to act.
It will be tough to be a Congressman this fall.

We are on a Gold Standard Now, Even though it is not Recognized

If you believe that gold no longer plays a role, think again. In effect, if you know what to look for, the world is on a gold standard now.
In 1971 the US ‘closed the gold window’ starting an era of global fiat money reference pricing that has been unprecedented in history. Never has the world operated on the basis of no country having a currency tied to something with intrinsic value like Gold. The ‘petro-dollar’ – a US dollar exchange rate based on the deal struck between Saudi Arabia and America – for the US to buy their oil and for the Saudis to buy US dollars and bonds in return – started a period of oil companies (with the military machinery in their pocket) bullying the world into buying US dollars or getting cut off from oil and dollar supplies led to our current political situation with the US now involved in multiple wars in various oil dependent economies and their satellites – and this lulled many into believing that Gold no longer played a role, but recent events prove these assumptions wrong.
Leading up the news that the Federal Reserve would not ‘taper’ their bond buying (QE) program we saw a precipitous drop in the price of Gold. Since I knew (like others including Peter Schiff, Bill Fleckenstein, Michael Pento and even James Rickards who stated as much on “Keiser Report”) that the Fed cannot ‘taper’ at any point going forward without throwing their entire Ponzi scheme into the ditch (causing every major bank in the world to instantly collapse) it was interesting to see the price of Gold trade down – unless you know the Fed, working alongside bankers on Wall St. and the City of London – are actively managing the price of Gold (along with stocks, bonds and currencies). Knowing that the Fed (who is implicated in every recent major market rigging scandal covering Forex, energy markets and credit default swaps) knew that it would make an announcement that would cause a buying panic in Gold (that they were going to debase the currency some more) – it had to go into the market and drive the price of Gold down ahead of the announcement or risk seeing Gold pop to new all-time highs of $2,000 or more.
I commented a few weeks ago that to understand the Fed you have to understand that it, along with JP Morgan and other TBTF banks, are one giant hedge fund. And this is a huge negative for supporters of free markets who believe prices should be determined by the market – not the Fed. Surprisingly, a few days later Warren Buffett made the same observation. [/B]He said the ‘Fed is the most successful hedge fund in history.’ For Warren this is true. He is on the receiving end of the biggest transfer of wealth in history from workers and savers to borrowers and speculators. But for those not on the Fed’s list of recipients of hundreds of billions worth of interest free loans that never have to be paid back the fact that the Fed is a giant hedge fund is devastating. It’s no coincidence that the day after the ‘no tapering’ of ‘food stamps for bankers’ aka QE was announced the government announced that food stamps for the non-recipients of the Fed’s free money were told that they can expect a ‘taper’ in the form of a cutback.
The huge price drop in Gold before the taper announcement is ‘smoking gun’ proof the Fed does exactly what Warren Buffett says they do: operate like an enormous hedge fund; making free loans to ‘friends,’ manipulating markets with impunity, disrupting price discovery with high powered algo trading fraud and pressuring governments to submit to various extortion schemes like TARP (created by Goldman Sachs alum and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson.
In effect, if you know what to look for, the world is on a gold standard now. The price of gold is telling you that the Fed Ponzi is running at full tilt and that the ravages of having such a destructive mechanism at the heart of the economy are unraveling. Because even with all that effort, the trend of the price of Gold is still higher and at some point the ability to keep it down will fail and then; as Warren Buffett also said; ‘You can see who’s not wearing a bathing suit when the tide goes out.’

Man Who Predicted No Fed Tapering Now Says To Expect Chaos
On the back of a wild week of trading in global markets, today the 42-year market veteran, who correctly predicted on Tuesday that the Fed would not taper, is now warning King World News that we should expect chaos in the aftermath of this week’s historic events. He also discussed what all of this means for gold and silver. Below is what Egon von Greyerz, founder of Matterhorn Asset Management out of Switzerland, had to say in his interview.
Eric King: “Egon, astonishingly, you correctly predicted that there would be no Fed tapering this week. That Fed decision certainly shocked the world and shocked the financial markets. Where do we go from here?”
Greyerz: “Yes, Eric. It did not surprise me at all that the Fed did not taper because for a patient on life support that is not the time to turn off the machine because that machine is what keeps the patient alive artificially. So how can the Fed possibly slow tapering?
The US is a country with a total government debt of $220 trillion, unemployment at 23%, the job participation rate at the lowest level since the 1970s, median household incomes at multi-decade lows, and real-GDP declining since 2006. We have also seen federal debt double since 2006, and consumer credit has been exploding. So the picture is clear....
“Not only will there be no tapering, but my forecast is that during 2014 QE will increase substantially. In fact, we could easily see QE double in 2014, and later on I expect trillions of dollars, and eventually even tens of trillions of dollars of money printing each year. This will also mean increased turmoil and chaos in global markets.
So the US is now on the road to hyperinflation. Hyperinflation arises as a result of a collapsing currency and this is exactly what is happening to the US dollar. Back in the late 1960s, when I started working in Switzerland, we paid 4.3 Swiss francs for each US dollar. Now it only costs us .91 for each dollar. That’s a decline of 80%!
Just since September the dollar has fallen 3% against most global currencies. Eric, we are now starting the next leg down in the US dollar. I see the dollar declining around 50% against most major currencies. What I am saying is that the dollar is going to collapse against other fiat currencies, even though these other currencies are just rubbish themselves.
The reality is that euro countries, and the UK, are in a mess as well, and Switzerland will probably have to print a lot of money because of the massive size of its banking system. So the race to the bottom is on, but the dollar will be the winner. The only other basket case currency is of course the yen. We might see a close race to the bottom between the dollar and the yen.
Why will the dollar go down? For the simple reason that the US has created a mountain of debt of enormous proportions. This is a debt mountain which can never be repaid with real money. This is why the US will have to print unlimited amounts of dollars over the next few years. But this will only add to the problems the US faces.
The collapsing currency will drive prices of goods and services exponentially higher. But the falling dollar will also start a vicious downward spiral with other countries selling their dollar assets, including their Treasury bonds, and that will lead to even more money printing. This will cause the dollar to fall even faster and interest rates will surge more quickly during this period as well.
At that point the US government will take Draconian measures. This will include exchange controls. US citizens will not be able to transfer dollars out of the country or even buy foreign currencies. They will also not be able to transfer other assets out such as gold and silver.
Pension funds and savers will also be forced to invest in rapidly plunging Treasury bonds in order to prop up a collapsing bond market. But all of these Draconian measures will be in vain, Eric. I know this paints a terrible picture, but this is all likely to start during 2014, and, sadly, it will lead to a hyperinflationary depression.
The political scene will also change and many countries could have anything from totalitarian regimes to anarchy. So physical gold and silver will be the best way to preserve purchasing power during the coming collapse, but it must be held outside of the banking system.”
Greyerz added: “Turning to the gold market, Eric, we are seeing a manipulation down in gold today. This is to be expected after the nearly $60 surge on Wednesday after the Fed announcement. But, to me, this is absolutely nothing in the big scheme of things. It’s a Friday move that is being done with paper selling, but it won’t last. I am absolutely convinced we will see much higher prices in coming weeks, and considerably higher prices in 2014.”

Већ скоро 8 година руски град Нижњи Новгород побратим је са Новим Садом. За то време градови који су постали пријатељи више пута су разменили посете на свим нивоима – од шефова администрација до писаца, од нафташа до спортиста. Скоро одмах пошто су Нижњи Новгород и Нови Сад постали побратими, ојачали су контакти у образовној сфери: 2008. године ученици гимназије Исидора Секулић у граду где је рођен Максим Горки, учествовали су у конференцији и говорили о утицају овог писца на српску књижевност. А нешто касније делегација српске гимназије долазила је да се упознаје са колегама из нижегородске..
Ових дана град на Волги посетило је руководство и ученици још једне новосадске гимназије Лаза Костић, заједно са представником градског већа за образовање Радомиром Дабетићем. Госте је примио Дмитриј Шуров, руководилац администрације Канавинског рејона града Нижњи Новгород.
Неколико руских компанија отвара своје филијале у Новом Саду, тамо ће радити много руских грађана, зато постоји потреба за руским разредима за њихову децу. Срби желе да направе све професионално и квалитетно, зато су дошли како би стекли конкретно искуство и договорили се о могућој сарадњи, између осталог о томе да образовни процес тамо организује извесни број руских педагога. За сада се решава питање како да се све то реши технички, али велика је вероватноћа да ће таква могућност бити осигурана. Све иде ка томе да наредне године може да се реализује пројекат школе за руску децу са 500 ученика. Такође се разматра могућност отварања школа на два језика, руско-српских.
У Нижњем Новгороду српска деца која скоро слободно говоре руски имала су могућност да вежбају у породицама.
Педагози су били смештени у хотелима, а српска деца су била у нашим породицама. Тачније у току седам дана колико су провели овде, деца су стекла ново искуство, навике, проширила видокруг, пробала нове моделе комуникације. Када оду наша деца, мислим да ћемо поступити исто.

Већ скоро 8 година руски град Нижњи Новгород побратим је са Новим Садом. За то време градови који су постали пријатељи више пута су разменили посете на свим нивоима – од шефова администрација до писаца, од нафташа до спортиста. Скоро одмах пошто су Нижњи Новгород и Нови Сад постали побратими, ојачали су контакти у образовној сфери: 2008. године ученици гимназије Исидора Секулић у граду где је рођен Максим Горки, учествовали су у конференцији и говорили о утицају овог писца на српску књижевност. А нешто касније делегација српске гимназије долазила је да се упознаје са колегама из нижегородске..
Ових дана град на Волги посетило је руководство и ученици још једне новосадске гимназије Лаза Костић, заједно са представником градског већа за образовање Радомиром Дабетићем. Госте је примио Дмитриј Шуров, руководилац администрације Канавинског рејона града Нижњи Новгород.
Неколико руских компанија отвара своје филијале у Новом Саду, тамо ће радити много руских грађана, зато постоји потреба за руским разредима за њихову децу. Former US Treasury Official - Terrifying US Collapse Ahead
Today a former US Treasury Official warned King World News that the U.S. is now headed toward a terrifying collapse. He also cautioned that, despite mainstream media propaganda, the Fed and other Western central planners are now desperately trying to keep the current financial system from imploding. This is without question one of the most powerful interviews Dr. Paul Craig Roberts has ever done.
Eric King: “Obviously the big news this week, Dr. Roberts, was the Fed and how they shocked the financial markets with no tapering. Your thoughts?”
Dr. Roberts: “Here’s the situation for the Fed: All of the markets, and the solvency of the big banks, are totally dependent on the Fed buying the bonds. If they don’t buy the bonds, then the interest rates are going to rise, the prices of all debt-related instruments are going to go down, the insolvency of the banks again reappears, the bond market collapses, and the stock market collapses....
“So they can’t stop QE because the whole system is rigged-dependent on that (QE). The other part of the trap they are in is that the longer they carry on QE, the closer they get to the time when the rest of the world simply loses all confidence in the dollar because of the enormous rate at which new dollars are being created, and they bail out (of dollars).
And when there is a run on the dollar the Fed loses control and the whole system blows up. So what the Fed is doing is preventing a short-term blowup with QE -- that is, with rigging bond prices, but the consequence is there is going to be a long-run blowup when there is a run on the dollar.
So what the Fed is doing is simply keeping the system going as long as it can. I don’t see how they can avoid a crash. If they stop QE it’s going to crash. If they don’t stop it, it’s going to crash later. So the Fed is manipulating everything to keep the system intact. And to repeat myself, they can do that, until there is a run on the dollar, and when there is a run on the dollar they lose control. At that point, (the price of) gold and silver will explode.”
Eric King: “How rapidly is that day approaching where we are going to see that run on the dollar? We did see a big gap down (in the dollar) on the (Fed) news.”
Dr. Roberts: “I don’t know. It’s gone on much longer than I thought it could. When I was in the Treasury, if something like this had been happening the dollar would have exploded a long time ago. So I don’t know what Washington has put in place, what kinds of agreements it has established. We’ve pressured the Japanese into printing yen in order to take that pressure off of the dollar.
If everyone is printing, it kind of keeps things balanced with what the Fed is printing. But at some point all of these other countries will realize the potential inflationary problem for their own country as well as the deterioration in their dollar holdings.
One thing we should note is that it looks like Washington is succeeding in isolating itself. For example, they were faced down by Putin over Syria on the basis of the evidence. And the British Parliament voted down Washington’s plans to attack Syria.
So when Washington loses the support of its primary puppet state, the United Kingdom, when they wouldn’t go along with the attack on Syria, that’s an indication of growing political isolation of Washington. And growing political isolation indicates that Washington may have trouble in securing the cooperation of countries to keep the dollar from imploding.”
Eric King: “Dr. Roberts, where does this leave us?”
Dr. Roberts: “It leaves you knowing that at some point the system is going to collapse, but you don’t know when.”

24. септембра руски министар за ванредне ситуације Владимир Пучков посетио је српско-руски хуманитарни центар у Нишу. Пучков је заједно са амбасадором Руске Федерације у Србији Александром Чепурином и српским званичницима оценио развој центра, који је отворен у априлу 2012.
Министар је изјавио да ове године Влада Руске Федерације је издвојила за развој центра 27 милиона долара. Александар Чепурин је подсетио да је циљ овог центра пружање помоћи у савладавању последица ванредних ситуација у Србији и земљама региона и одлучно одбацио тврдње да је у питању „камуфлирана руска војна база“.

Tacno .
Zato ja godinama ubedjujem Ruse da u fokus stave Srbiju , a ne nepouzdanu Ukrajinu ! Moj geopoliticki projekat u prvoj fazi prosirenja Imperije stavlja akcenat na Srbiju , CG , Republiku Srpsku , a ne na Ukrajinu ! Zato je moj projekat prosirenja Imperije bolji i realniji , a i brze ce doci do cilja - nego projekat Kremaljskih ,, stratega,, koji su sve sile ulozili u vracanje Ukrajine u integracije koje predvodi Rusija .
Ukrajina za to jos nije zrela - i na to sam goninama upozoravao - jer vise ima Rusofila i pristalica ujedinjenja sa Rusijom u Srbiji nego i Ukrajini - i Rusi sa tim moraju da se pomire , a Ruska drzavna politika to mora napokon da uzme u obzir !
Kad se ovde zavrsi posao - onda ce i Ukrajunu biti lakse vratiti tamo gde joj je i mesto - u sastav Rusko -Srpske Imperije !
Putine , ohladi malo sa Ukrajinom i posveti se Srbiji - ovde se dobija bitka za prosirenje Imperije !

Imaju neke rezervne igrace - ali kasno je - Ukrajina je vec pred potpisom SSP sa EU i gubi bescarinski rezim sa Unijom Rusije , Belorusije i Kazahstana ( Kirgizije, Jermenije ) ....
Ukrajinska vlast je izabrala kakastrofalan put , ali dok se opamete i vide da od EU nema nista proci ce dosta vremena .... Rusiji preostaje samo da ukine bescarinski rezim i obustavi svaki uvoz iz Ukrajine - jer ce u suprotnom uvoziti proizvode EU na kojima je samo deklaracija da su proizvedeni u Ukrajini - tako ce Ukrajina godisnje gubiti milijarde dolara - koje im EU naravno nece nadoknaditi , naprotiv , samo ce unistiti i onako slabu ukrajinsku privredu , koja mnogo manje izvozi u EU nego u Rusiju .... Ali to je izbor i problem Ukrajine , to se nas ne tice ..
JA pripadam geopolitickoj skoli koja argumentovano zastupa stav da u integracijama koje Rusija predvodi Srbija mora da ima prednost pred Ukrajinom , i da je prica Brzezinskog da je Rusija bez Ukrajine ,,pola drzavae ,, obican propagandni mit - na koji su se Rusi nazalost upecali ... Odatle i potice moj zestoki sukob sa Kremaljskim ,,stratezima ,, - koji vode integracije Rusije na pogresan i los nacin !!

Ukrajina će pasti u rusku korpu kao zrela kruška kada za to dođe vreme. Prebrzo "uzimanje" Ukrajine može biti kontraproduktivno zbog trauma iz vremena SSSR. Putin je svestan te traume svih bivših SSSR država i država varšavskog pakta. Rusi čekaju da trauma izbledi tj da se stanovništvo biološki pročisti. Za to vreme Rusija radi na novom i atraktivnom imidžu. Najdalje u narednih 50 godina će se obnoviti Ruska imperija koja će zahvatati i skoro celi Balkan, ali samo pod uslovom da se u Rusiji obezbedi kontinuitet putinizma. Zapad će žestoko nastojati da napravi diskontinuitet, a na Rusima je da to ne dozvole. Bilo bi dobro da Rusi izmisle novog cara.

Boro, ne zaebavaj se, bitnija je Ukrajna nego Srbija. Ukrajna ce biti ponovo deo imperije, to nije "ako" nego "kada". A i Srbija ce biti, ali da bi se doslo do Srbije, prvo mora Ukrajna da se stavi pod kontrolu, pa onda ili Rumunija ili Bugarska. Znaci na spisku prioriteta su ispred nas i Bugarska i Ukrajna, a mozda i Madjarska, Rumunija i Crna gora. Sta da se radi, takva nam je geopoliticka pozicija, pogotovu od kad je Sapunica pustio da se Crna Gora otcepi. Nema to veze sa tim koga Rusi vise vole ili ko Ruse vise voli. Geopolitika je kurrrva.

Ne slazem se ....
Mit o Ukrajini je izmisljotina i podmetacina americkih geopliticara ( Brzezinskog i komp ) .. i Jermenija i Sirija su dokazi da sam u pravu !!!! Ni oni nemaju teritorijalni dodir sa Rusijom ....
Uvek se posao pocinje tamo gde je najlakse ostvariti cilj - uostalom i Kirgizija je dobar primer - odmah posle ,, obojene revolucije ,, koju su finasirali i organizovali amerikanci Rusi su napravili novu revoluciju i odradili posao ... Odradili su ga lako , zato sto je vecina Kirgiza bila za Rusiju , a ne za ameriku - u americkoj bazi u Kirgiziji Kirgizi nisu hteli ni da se zaposljavaju , dok su Rusku bazu u Kirgiziji obozavali i obican narod je odusevljeno drzao Ruske vojnike kao malo vode na dlanu ....
U Ukrajini nije Rusofilija razvijena ni upola koliko u Srbiji - a od toga se pocinje .....

Jermenija ima granicu sa Iranom.
U Ukrajni je rusofilija mnogo veca nego u srbiji, ustvari oni jesu Rusi. Tamo 99% stanovnistva zna Ruski i govori ga tecno, i pored toga sto se post-sovjetske vlasti vec 20 godina upinju da ozive ukrainski jezik. Koliko Srba zna ruski jezik?
U ukrajni su velika vecina verujucih ljudi vernici Kijevske mitropolije Ruske pravoslavne crkve. Svi rusomrzci su vernici nekanonske "KIjevske Patrijarsije" a la Miras Dedeic, ili prosto unijati, grko katolici. Recju sektasi. Dakle Rusiji je Ukrajna zivotno vazna.
Ruski geopoliticki plan za jugoistocnu evropu se zasniva na obrucu oko Rumunije. Rumunija je drzava koja je stvorena kao brana ruskom uticaju na Balkan, i Rumunija je oznacena kao vecni neprijatelj Rusije, isto kao sto je Srbija oznacena kao vecni neprijatelj Zapada. Zato je ruski geopoliticki projekat u istocnoj evropi sastoji u tome da opkoli Rumuniju. Zato Juzni Tok ne ide kroz Rumuniju iako bi to bilo najjeftinije. Dakle, prvo Ukrajna i Bugarska treba da padnu potpuno pod Ruski uticaj. A onda Srbija i Madjarska. A onda i Crna gora. Onda se u madjarsku dovodi na vlast fasisticki Jobik, i usmerava se na Rumuniju, to jest Transilvaniju. Otcepljuje se Transilvanija, a kad Jobik pocne da gleda na Vojvodinu ili Slovacku, biva proglasen za izvor nestabilnosti i pusten niz vodu. Madjarska vise Rusiji nece biti potrebna da drzi obruc nad Rumunijom, jer ima Transilvaniju koja ce postati deo EAU i biti spona izmedju pro-ruske i/ili Aneksirane Ukrajne, i Srbije. Tako Rusija dobija luku Bar na Jadranu i moze da gradi trans-evroazijsku zeleznicu od Bara do Vladivostoka. I polako ali sigurno sve to postaje jedna Slovenska hipersila, Carevina Rusija.
Posle toga moze da se razmislja o oslobodnjenju Konstaninopolja...
