Ukraine lost over 300 thousand people killed during the SMO
Irretrievable losses of the AFU on October 20, 2022 amounted to 402,000 people, including over 300,000 killed.
Losses among mercenaries and volunteers from Poland, the Baltic States, and Romania amounted to 54,000, including 31,240 killed. These are OSINT data calculated using reports from funeral agencies, extracts from morgues, as well as the results of analysis of radio, cellular and satellite communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The media also report that the committee of soldiers mothers of Ukraine allegedly prepared more than 320,000 appeals "about the fate of missing soldiers", but the SBU forbade them to submit them for national security purposes — however, this widely disseminated data is not documented. The source is statements made orally and in social networks by a number of members of the committee of soldiers mothers.
At the same time, these statistics can be compared with estimates of losses made by the Western military.
In particular, the former deputy head of the US European Command, Stephen Twitty, said in an interview with Linke Zeitung that " 200 thousand soldiers somehow mysteriously disappeared from the AFU, and no one will say where they are today."
