Homo poeticus - Danilo Kis

‎- Znas, ponekad se plasim..
- Zasto?
- Postoje ljudi za koje verujes da su zauvek, ljudi posle kojih se plasis da nastavis sam.
Tesko je koracati ovim svetom sam. I izmisljati nova imena gradovima i ulicama kojima ste vi prolazili nekad...
izmisljati nove ptice.. nove zvezde, jer te one stare isuvise secaju na onog ko vise ne koraca sa tobom...
I brisati mesto vetra otiske stopala u pesku. Ali kuda su otisla ta stopala? Ne znam.

Gustave Meyrink

Read the sacred writings of all the peoples on Earth. Through all of them runs, like a red thread, the hidden Science of attaining and maintaining wakefulness.
Gustave Meyrink

Science is Christian, not when it condemns itself to the letter of things, but when, in the infinitely little, it discovers as many mysteries and as much depth and power as in the infinitely great.
Edgar Quinet

The law of humanity ought to be composed of the past, the present, and the future, that we bear within us; whoever possesses but one of these terms, has but a fragment of the law of the moral world.
Edgar Quinet

Time is the fairest and toughest judge.
Edgar Quinet

Universal orthodoxy is enriched by every new discovery of truth: what at first appeared universal, by wishing to stand still, sooner or later becomes a sect.
Edgar Quinet

What we share with another ceases to be our own.
Edgar Quinet

The joy of life is not a profane type of enjoyment: it reveals the bliss of existing, of sharing in the spontaneity of life and the majesty of the world.
Mircea Eliade

Destiny is that part of time which represents the history's will printed on us.
Mircea Eliade

To have solely one thought, but it to be capable to destroy the universe.
Mircea Eliade

The crises of modern man are to a large extent religious ones, insofar as they are an awakening of his awareness to an absence of meaning.
Mircea Eliade

In imitating the exemplary acts of a God or of a mythic hero, or simply by recounting their adventures, the man of an archaic societydetaches himself from profane time and magically re-enters the Great Time, the sacred time.

The history of religions reaches down and makes contact with that which is essentially human: the relation of man to the sacred.
Mircea Eliade

Myth tells how, through the deeds of Supernatural Beings, a reality came into existence, be it the whole of reality, the Cosmos, or only a fragment of reality - an island, a species of plant, a particular kind of human behavior, an institution.
Mircea Eliade

In love, no certainty is ultimate... That elementary thing - the feeling that you are loved - must be certified again and again, because one doubt, one mistake razes everything to madness and ecstasy.
Mircea Eliade

As long as you have not grasped that you have to die to grow, you are a troubled guest on the dark earth.
Mircea Eliade

For those to whom a stone reveals itself as sacred, its immediate reality is transmuted into supernatural reality. In other words, for those who have a religious experience all nature is capable of revealing itself as cosmic sacrality.
Mircea Eliade

Myth is always an account of a "creation"; it relates how something was produced, began to be.

Nothing lasts within the heart. Even the most certified conviction can be annulled by a single gesture.
Mircea Eliade

Man becomes aware of the sacred because it manifests itself, shows itself, as something wholly different from the profane.
Mircea Eliade

Myth means a "true story" and, beyond that, a story that is a most precious possession because it is sacred, exemplary, significant.
