- После монголске инвазије прилив Кумана у византијске области се повећао. Јован III Ватац је 1241. године населио десет хиљада Кумана у Тракији и Малој Азији, и 1259. кумански контигенти су имали велику улогу у бици код Пелагоније. Један од најбољих византијских војсковођа 14. века, Сиргијан, по оцу је био куманског порекла потичући управо од Кумана које је ангажовао Јован III Ватац.
- Кумани су оставили трага у топономастици Балканског полуострва, а подесан пример је град Куманово.

The Asians of Palaiokastron in the Strumica region were mostly of Qipchaq descent as well:
- Komanos
- Two women by the name of Komanka
- And very likely Turkopulos

I also found interesting the following (since we're talking about Huns in a different thread): In the tenth century, the Vardar valley was likely settled by Hungarian mercenaries who had been enlisted in a special detachment of the imperial bodyguards called Turki Vardariotai - although these may not have been 'actual' ethnic Hungarians.

I'm sure there is more interesting and valuable info in this book, but I haven't had a chance to go through it all.

There's plenty of evidence in the Balkans -- just from people's facial features -- of the genetic contribution of Turkic, Magyar and even Mongol ancestors. Of course the Asian component varies: in many people it is not at all evident, in others it can be quite pronounced. I didn't realize this until I left the Balkans and in the U.S. came in contact with various Asians. In the Balkans the partial Asian heritage is not primarily shown in the Y-DNA studies but I expect it will be confirmed by autosomal genetics.

Историја Кумана у Србији је у непосредној вези са њиховом историјом на Балкану у целини. Предлажем да се тема преименује.

Историја Кумана у Србији је у непосредној вези са њиховом историјом на Балкану у целини. Предлажем да се тема преименује.

Слажем се у потпуности. Но, како Мађарска напр. не припада тзв Балканском полуострву , ставих наслов " Историја Кумана у Европи" који ће моћи да обједини све претходне и наредне дискусије о миграцијама на европски континент ..

Раније сам ја пратила Черкезе, где су мигрирали и како су се снашли.Они који су дошли на наше тло крајем 19.века, кад су их Руси протерали, никако се нису снашли на Балкану и већина је мигрирала опет.
Било би занимљиво видети у вези са Куманима, тамо где смо сигурни да су се населили трајно, јесу ли асимиловани од староседелаца или су успели да сачувају своје традиције, или су их можда и наметнули староседеоцима.
