Chapter One:
Harry Potter and the Green Eye Secret
A tall boy of the age of sixteen sat at the base of two stone graves. His emerald eyes sparkled with tears, his hands folded in his lap. He was sitting at the site of his parents' graves. He ran a hand over the "L" in his mother, Lily's name. Then he stroked the small figure stag on his father, James'. Incripted underneath the small stag were the words,"Loving Husband, Faithful Friend, and Caring Father."
Harry felt tears sting his eyes once more as he read this. He knew this was what he had come there for, to see his parents, as they had already been sixteen years dead this Halloween. His aunt Petunia had never taken him here, so he had to wait until he could venture out on his own. Now that he was here, he had no regrets. In fact, he wanted to stay here forever.
But, alas, he cannot escape from reality. The reality that Dumbledore was gone, and he was half to blame for it. He choked back a sob, and wiped his eyes with his sleeve-cuff. He took another look at his parents grave. To his surprise, he saw a half-hidden note behind his mother's headstone. He was bewildered, as he had never noticed it, at first glance.
He picked up the note, and scanned it. It was to him, from his mother.
Dear Harry,
If you have gotten this letter, then I am probably in a better place. I wrote this letter when I first learned that Lord Voldemort would be coming after us. I put a charm on this letter, so that when you visited my grave, it would appear to you and only you only.
There are a couple important facts that I have to tell you about yourself. For one, you might have heard a little about my school life. My best subjects were Charms and Potions. My abilities were what saved you before you were born. You see, my darling boy, that when I was still pregnant, Voldemort attacked. We escaped, but you were in an unfit state. I had to brew a healing potion, and charm it inside of me, so that you would live.
Luckily, it worked. And when you were born, you were the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. You had James' untidy black hair, and his facial features. But your eyes, were green, like mine.
Listen Harry, for there is something about your eyes that you will see. For no one except for me and you have these eyes. These eyes have a gift Harry, and it is time I explain it to you. My grandmother, your great-grandmother, had these eyes. She was also a descendent of Godric Gryffindor himself. His great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughter to be exact.
You are now thinking, how come I,Lily Potter, was a muggle-born then? Well, a little known fact is that my mother was actually a squib. Once Grandma found this out, she didn't disown her, but she left her to grow up in the muggle world.
That means that I, am the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughter of Gryffindor, including my mother. All of his descendents have green eyes, Harry, remember this.
But why green? Why Slytherin's color? This is due to the fact that Godric used to be best friends with Slytherin, until their fight. He had placed a charm on his family, an unbreakable one. This is also one of the reasons why I am talented at Charms AND Potions.
Lastly, these eyes have talent. These eyes are familiar to all who see them. Animals, Giants, Sea-Creatures, Trolls, Goblins, even Owls understand what these mean. They know that those with these color eyes are not to be harmed. That they are under protection of Godric Gryffindor himself. So, as long as you live, no one can seriously harm you.
I, myself, would have used this protection, but as you probably know now, Harry, everyone has a choice. I chose to give up my life for you and James, seeing as I could never live without him.
I know this sounds a little unfair to you, Harry, as you know that you could have grown up with a mother, but you need to understand that because Voldemort chose you, you are in this battle alone.
You have probably already heard about the prophecy. But do not rely on what the prophecy means. Its a prediction, not a fact. Therefore, both you and Voldemort might live, or you might perish.
But, with this gift, you can defeat any spells or curses that stand in your way. But you must learn how to use it. Up until now, you have probably been hit with a jinx or two. To turn this power on, you must think of me. It works only if the giftee thinks about their mother.
