The engine in my 2010 GTI, with 8000 miles on the clock, failed Thursday. I was driving to work, pulled up next to another car at a stoplight, and heard a "clack clack clack clack" noise and thought it was the other car. Then the light changed and the noise stayed with me. And in the half-mile from there to work, it seemed to be getting worse.

The noise seemed to be coming from the front end of the engine, it was kind of like a playing card in bicycle spokes kind of sound -- it went up in frequency with revs. There was no error code, and the car didn't seem to be missing or be down on power. I didn't see or feel any metallic particles on the dipstick. But it sounded dreadful, like a rod knock, turned bearing, or dropped valve kind of noise.

I had VW Roadside Assistance flat-bed the car from my place of work to the dealership, and they gave me a loaner car. Dropped the car off at 5:00 PM Thursday so no one has looked at it yet. The bad news is that the loaner car is a 2011 Nissan Altima, a white 4-door with a CVT. I hate it. It may say "Nissan" on the badge but it drives like a Buick. But at least I'm not stranded.

Anyone wish to speculate what has failed? What would make that kind of death-racket without throwing an engine code?

VW izbacuje iz svojih vozila 1.4 TSI motore zato sto su "suvise komplikovani" . Naravno pravi razlog je sto crkavaju kao ludi

Until Volkswagen makes a public comment we won’t know for sure if that is their official stance. However, reliability seems to be a real concern for this otherwise charming and efficient engine, too.

At least, that’s the case based on anecdotal evidence posted to our user-based Golf VI 1.4 TSI Tried & Tested review. Of the 16 comments posted to date, half relate to engine complaints. A quick google search of “VW 1.4 TSI engine problems” will also yield many more results than Volkswagen would care for.

So, it’s probably a case of watching this space to see how Volkswagen responds. What effect this news may have on the new Polo GTI or A1 1.4 TFSI is also unclear.

Ljudi se masovno zale da im crkavaju ovi motori.

Tako da moj je savet svima izbegavajte ova vozila i ove motore, ako necete da rizikujete da i vama isti crkne :)

Mom dobrom drugaru koji vozi Audi A4 s line oprema 2.0 tdi crkao motor posle samo 6 meseci a kupio je auto ganc nov . Sreca njegova da mu je auto bio u garanciji pa mu ga zamenili u Svajcarskoj inace bi nahebo ko zuti.

i had own a sirocco model 2010 new one , from the delair , after 3 months 3500 km the night mare begin , they told me that the car need to replace the motor , then i had the car after 6 months the problems began , missfire , turbo problems , oxyjen sensor fault , the change the turbo and the 4 injection and the 4 spark , and the 4 bobin , and the new soft wear , but still there is miss fire , and the oxyjen sensor , i dont know what to say about this car , i told them that if they change the engine , should the problems go , they told me its not engine problems , so i want un advice , if the changing the engine will solve the problems , on the other hand i asked them if the can replace the 1.4 tsi with the 2.0 , they told me its along way .

Kupio covek ganc nov Sirocco i crkao mu motor posle samo 3500 km na sebi :(

Posle toga su mu zamenili pola motora , ali i dalje je imao gomilu problema. Eksplozije u motoru, turbo problemi, crkao senzor za kiseonik, onda je zamenio turbinu 4 brizgaljke i svecice, onda 4 bobine , ali i dalje ima problema koje ne moze da resi.


Katastrofa.

According to a recent study in the UK, Audi and MINI are among the automakers with the most engine failures.

In a poll conducted by Warranty Direct , the company studied its claims data to compile the study, with Honda, Toyota, and Mercedes-Benz topping the lists of automakers with the most reliable engines. Honda had an engine failure of 0.29 percent, while Toyota came in second with 0.58 percent. Mercedes had one engine failure for every 119 engines, a failure rate of 0.84 percent.

It should be noted that the study was performed in the UK and so does not include data on the Big Three (Chrysler, Ford and GM), while it does include data on cars from automakers not offered in North America, including MG Rover, which topped the list for the most engine failures with a 7.88-percent failure rate. Audi was second worst with a 3.71 percent while MINI was in third with 2.51 percent. It’s also worth noting that BMW was in seventh place and Volkswagen came ninth from the bottom.

The study conducted had 36 automakers on it, with Audi, BMW, MINI, and Volkswagen all finishing in the bottom 10.

Znaci falili su im u istrazivanju amerikanci, ali opet najgori su Audi BMW Mini VW. Sto znaci da je prica da su nemacka vozila pouzdana - najobicnija prevara. Jedini od nemaca koji su se dobro pokazali su Mercedesovi motori.

То је бре јасно, не кажу џабе: Мерцедес је ауто, све остало су к'омпири.
Иначе отац мог другара из основне вози Мерца 200Д од око 1980., или неку годину пре, који је прешао 1М километара, а нема шта у њега није точено 90их.
 
sestra je uzela novog golfa 5 gti u americi, i stalno se kvario, vozila 8 mjeseci i uzela mazdu 6 koju vozi vec par godina. naravno bez ikakvog kvara...

to je to.

zato treba citati i informisati se dobro pre nego kupis automobil. da posle ne bude kuku majko , i plakanja kada ti majstor kaze da treba da kupis nov motor za par hiljada evra ili da prodas auto na auto-otpad :)

Fabrička greška kod VW 1.4 TSI motora

Volkswagen je priznao da postoji fabrička greška kod 1.4 TSI motora.

Zbog greške u proizvodnji lanca koji je kod ovog motora upotrijebljen umjesto zupčastog kaiša, može da dođe do njegovog spadanja i oštećenja motora, na šta su se već žalili brojni vlasnici VW modela sa ovim agregatom.

Vodeći inženjer Volkswagena je njemačkom Auto Bildu rekao da proizvođač lanaca nije napravio ove djelove dovoljno otporne na opterećenja kojima su izloženi.

Nakon nekog vremena, lanac se istegne toliko da spadne sa natezača.

Vozač primijeti problem tek kad dođe do oštećenja. Kada se upali lampica za problem na motoru na instrument tabli ili kada čuje zveket lanca iz prostora motora, vozač mora što prije da pođe u servis.

Za sada se zna da je ovim problemom najviše pogođeni modeli Golf, Tiguan i posebno Touran proizveden 2006. i 2007. godine i to između 40.000 i 70.000 kilometara.

Pored istegnuća lanca, natezači i bregasta osovina takođe mogu da budu oštećeni.

Spadanje lanca za posljedicu ima velika oštećenja na motoru, jer dolazi do sudaranja klipova i ventila, a može da dođe i do deformacije cilindara i bregaste osovine.

Ako dođe do ovoga, popravka može da košta i 6.200 eura, koliko je iznosio predračun jednom vozaču iz Njemačke u VW servisu.

Kod 1.4 TSI motora zamjena lanca i ostalih djelova koji idu uz njega košta oko 1.500 eura.

Popravka od 1500 do 6200 evra!

dizel ce svaki da crkne kad sipas lose gorivo. a to ti je u srbiji neizbezno.

evo kaze mi danas drugar, sipao gorivo tu na jednoj pumpi, i krenuo uzbrdo i nece auto da mu vuce, on nabije pun gas, i krenu eksplozije na auspuhu.


Sve u svemu auto benzinac pa nije imao vecih problema . A da je dizelas - plakao bi.

zavisi koj dizel ,, kod mene pet god nista od kvara ,,, el znaš da ima dizela koisu pogoreli na tone ,, trafo ulje , zejtin ona za jelo ,, loz ulje ,, bio dizel ,, uljane repice ,, prerađeno ulje ,, itd i dalje idu ,, kao što kazeš , ne svi poneki ,,

Pokriće to garancija ali VW odavno nije šta je bio.
Inače, VW već neko vreme u svoja , Seat i Škodina vozila ugrađuje aluminijumske "jednokratne" motore na kojima nije moguća generalka.

Možeš samo da ga izvadiš i kupiš drugi ( 4-5k evra) ili da kupiš donji "polumotor" od 3k evra i čekaš da ti rikne sve ostalo.

Totalni shit.
 
Vidis, to nije greska VW-a, vec fabrike koja je proizvela lanac.

da, ali je deo rađen za VW, pa samim tim greška ide na račun ugleda fabrike VW...kad bi svaka velika fabrika tako prebacivala krivicu na te manje fabrike koje ih snabdevaju delovima, onda bi sve fabrike pravile najbolje automobile na svetu...

sumnjam da bas oni imaju losije gorivo od nas :)

Zapravo,to je istina,oni nemaju gorivo od 95 ili 98 octana.Njihov max.je 93 i to toče eu.automobili,njihovi u prosjeku troše 89 octana.Upitno je koliko su europljani prilagodili motore takvim benzinima.
Inače diesel im je čak i do 30%skuplji od benzina.
