Unionists wants resignation of Minister of culture

Independent Trade Union of Culture and Arts has filed a request for representation on 12th August 2010. Althought,The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, has a duty to, within 15 days, convene a committee to decide on the representativeness of certain unions. they have not made any decision about it yet. However, the law says that if, after the expiry of 15 days, there are no written decision of the Commission on representativeness, a union is declared representative.
President of the Independent Trade Union of Culture and Arts, Zoran Djuricic, announced the strike of all cultural institutions which are members of the union:
“The strike will start on 28th January and will last until the government accepts their demands:20 precent increase in wages, resignation of the Minister of Labour because of the avoidance of the social dialogue, disregard of the collective agreements, suppression of the unionism and violation of human and trade union rights, payment of Christmas bonus for 2011, termination of obstruction of the Commission for the right of representation”.
According to Mr.Djuricic, the Minister of Culture is obligated to negotiate with all unions regardless of their representativeness.
It is possible that on the same day, workers in education will start a strike too,so we are currently working on to merge their strike with ours-says Djuricic.
Also, he said, there is a cooperation between certain unions and government, which results in obstruction and manipulation.
Djuricic said:I was one of the founders of the United Branch Unions “Indipendance”,and then I was replaced by Branislav Canak, who is now a member of the Commission for issuing decisions of representation. He also added that he has filed criminal charges against Canak because of false accusations of embezzlement, which have not been substantiated or proven facts.
President of the Union of Culture of Serbia, Dragan Djordjevic, said that the union always supported strikes by their colleagues, and that they will this time join the announced strike of workers in culture.”Of course we will join the strike which is scheduled for 28th January, we always support the trade union strikes and other branches, not just culture” - said Djordjevic.

Minister rejects dialogue :
Ministry of culture issued a statement: The Ministry cooperates and negotiates with the representative trade unions :the Association of Independent Unions of Serbia and the United Trade Unions "Independence". After receiving a request of Mr. Zoran Đuričića on behalf of the Independent Trade Union of Culture and Arts (NSKU), Ministry of Culture determined that the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs have not yet decided about the representativeness of the NSKU.And since this Union is not representative,Ministry will not negotiate with them.
