05/18] Fans in Sheva Plea

A group of Milan fans have set up their own website in an attempt to convince Andriy Shevchenko to stay at the club.

The Ukrainian striker is expected to leave the San Siro this summer after admitting that he was pondering a transfer.

Although Milan have insisted that the player is not for sale, it seems almost certain that Sheva will be playing for Chelsea next season.

But the Rossoneri faithful are not willing to let him go without a fight and have set up www.shevarestaconnoi.com [Sheva remain with us] where fans can leave their stay pleas to the ace.

The club too are also hoping to convince the man to continue in Milan, despite the possibility that he could be replaced by Samuel Eto’o of Barcelona or Arsenal’s Thierry Henry.

“Henry or Eto’o? The answer is still Shevchenko,” said Milan official Leonardo after last night’s Champions League Final.

“Henry plays on his own for the Gunners and finds it hard. Eto’o is in a better situation because he has great champions around him.

“Milan would always opt for Sheva though.”

[05/19] Milan Offer Sheva New Deal

AC Milan have offered a two-year contract extension to Chelsea target Andriy Shevchenko.

The Italian giants are trying to keep the Ukraine striker, who last week held a press conference to reveal he wanted to leave the club this summer.

The 29-year-old has been a target of Chelsea for the past two years but manager Jose Mourinho admitted on Friday: “I like Shevchenko but my feeling is Milan don’t want to sell him and they will keep him.”

A statement on Milan’s website, www.acmilan.it read: “Shevchenko’s future is at the heart of every Milan fan and it’s for this very reason that Milan have proposed to Andriy a contract extension until 2011.

“In practice, another five years at the club (his current contract ends on June 30, 2009) would mean he would end his career in the Rossoneri colours and that would be a dream come true for the Milan fans.”

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi added on the website: “I hope he stays.”

Shevchenko signed an extension to his deal last year when rumours were rife that Chelsea were going to make a bid for the player.

Shevchenko, who will captain Ukraine in this summer’s World Cup, was Milan’s top scorer with 19 goals in 28 league appearances last season. He also netted nine times in the Champions League.

DR NITRO:
