A joint mission of Germany and Estonia will use a SAAB-340 aircraft to perform the survey flight over Belarus and Russia. The flight is supposed to control military activities in the observed countries, specified the source.
Signed in Helsinki on March 24, 1992, the Open Skies Treaty was ratified by Belarus on May 29, 2001. At present 34 countries are parties to the treaty. The treaty opens skies for observation flights over participating nations with a view to promoting transparency in arms control and increasing the capabilities of preventing crises and settling crisis situations within the framework of the OSCE and existing international organisations.
