Početak
Prva inkarnacija benda nazvana je Force, a okupila se 1979. godine u Upplands Vasbiju u Stokholmu, a integrisali su je vokal i klavijaturista Joei Tempest, gitarista John Norum, basista Peter Olsson i bubnjar Toni Reno.
Bend je poslao nekoliko demo snimaka diskografskim kućama, ali im je rečeno da su za objavljivanje morali da se ošišaju i pevaju na švedskom.
Dve godine kasnije, Olsson je napustio bend, a na njegovo mesto došao je John Leven. Samo nekoliko meseci kasnije, Leven se pridružio bendu Rising Force Ingvie J. Malmsteen -a, a Force -u se pridružio bivši basista Malmsteena, Marcel Jacob. Ovo je trajalo samo tri meseca; Leven je očigledno imao problema sa Malmstenom, pa su on i Jacob ponovo razmenili mesta.
