WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army will scrap the Comanche helicopter being developed by Boeing Co. and United Technologies Corp., shifting $14.6 billion into other aircraft programs through 2011, acting Army Secretary Les Brownlee said on Monday.
Brownlee said the money would be used to buy 800 other aircraft, upgrade 1,400 existing helicopters and accelerate work on unmanned aerial vehicles.
