Ukrajina odustala od ulaska u NATO pakt!
Ukraine not interested in joining NATO just yet
Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych has promised to deepen ties with the EU but has surprised Poland and other allies that Ukraine is currently not seeking NATO membership.

The decision came as a surprise for the alliance and Poland, which had been the strongest advocate of Ukraine NATO membership.
Viktor Yanukovych announced in Brussels that Ukraine is putting on hold its aspirations to join the alliance because of widespread public opposition.
”When time comes we will make such move, but now when in Ukrainian society the support for NATO membership is some 12 to 25% this is not enough to make such a step.”
But society's lack of support is only one factor, which puts Ukraine's NATO bid on hold, the other is relations with Moscow, which does not cast a favourite eye on Ukraine's membership in the alliance. Jakub Boratynski an expert in east European affairs from the Strefan Battory foundation says the decision of Yanukovych is the reflection of the power base he has in eastern Ukraine and the prevailing attitude concerning NATO membership.
